Got on the water at Lay this morning by about 9:00 a.m., later than I wanted. Bass were chasing shad in weed beds and shallow water but not nearly as active as earlier this week and last week. I managed to catch a few shallow, then moved to the mouth of the slough. Managed to pick up three more, then moved up river. Stopped at one of my winter time holes and got a good surprise. I caught bass on the first three cast, missed one on the forth case, and caught another one on the fifth cast. Caught several more then moved a couple of miles up the river to another winter time hole. Caught bass there but bite began to fall off by 11:30 a.m. I caught a few more in the next hour and left the lake by 12:30 p.m. All together, I managed to boat between 15 to 20 bass. The size of the fish was not as good as it had been earlier in the week also.

Most all of these fish were holding on ledges from 5 to 8 feet deep. I feel like if I had got on the water earlier, the bass would have been shallow.
