Launched at South Bay knowing it was fixing to be a very busy weekend on the lake. Light fog was over the water when I put in and would yield to summertime sunshine. Took a moment to flip a nut bed or two getting a chunk and a smaller fish out of the same spot. Hit the GPS to mark it for an afternoon try but the user wasn't thinking straight. Made a short run to hit a bank or two before the fog totally burned off and found several fish looking for a topwater meal. Nothing huge but fun for this simple minded fisherman. Ran a little bit further north as the sun broke free and found a few fish on a shallow crankbait. Toothy creatures were also inhaling this bait but I was lucky enough to retrieve all my baits back unharmed from their porcupine like mandibles. I found myself losing focus so I headed back south to try to hit that nut bed again but failed to find much going on. Fell short of twenty LMB that only included a few chunks. Pretty poor showing considering all the huge bags being caught on the south lake right now....but that's why I don't fish the tournys. I'm a simple minded fisherman trying to keep my fishing simple.
