    Avid AC66MHM or AC66MLF for Pointer 78 & 100's?

Anyone use either of these for jerkbaits or topwater? I realize there is a difference in the action of the two but I've never been able to find a jerkbait rod I liked. I have never seen the MLF but am familiar with the 7'MHM but need something shorter for jerking. I assume the 6'6" is similar in action. I'll be fishing mainly for largemouth around cedars and brushpiles in cold water. I'd also like to be able to use it for Pop-R's and spooks. Thanks for any info.

The AC68MXF is the perfect jerkbait rod and a great topwater rod. The 6-6 is too stout...

You wont be disapointed in the 68MXF. My favorite rod in the Avid line

I use an Avid AC66MM crankbait rod cut down to 6'2" with a pistol grip for jerkbaits, poppers, and spooks. I love the action and it won't pull the trebles out. Largest I've caught with it is about 4#, but had no problems whatsoever.

definately not too stout. This rod has a nice tip, and it has a good moderate action. GREAT rod for what you're looking for. JMHO, :o)

P.S. NEVER use an XF action rod for treble hook baits. :o)

   I use the 7MHM & HM from chinook (75.42.64.68)  12/3/2007 11:14:00 PM
I use both the MHM & HM in the 7 foot version for topwater and jerkbaits. I've even thrown the Magnum Spook with the HM when hunting stripers. That said, I do use braid instead of mono or fluoro. Also use a Forhan revolver rod built on the Seeker BS706 blank; you might want to look at those as they're sometimes available at a pretty reasonable price. Bought one not too long ago off the Swap/Sell board for $110 shipped; as new condition. Of course, if you like the hump grip, stick with the Avids. Don't know anyone else other than Bass Pro Shops that still makes hump grips
