Over the winter, I picked up a Fin-Nor AHAB 12# conventional reel. Any ideas on a good rod to match with it? I think I want about a 7' rod with a wispy tip and a good solid reel seat. What are some good makes, models values? Shimano makes nice ones but they're expensive.

Additionally......What do folks think of Fin-Nor AHAB's in general...I picked up two AHAB 30#'s as well....these reels were all 50% off retail and I couldn't resist

Try Bass Pro Shop Offshore Angler catalog. Great values on big game rods for your #12 and #30. The Fin-Nor Ahabs are the greatest big game fishing reels made today. All in the good old US. Man did you make a purchase Fin-Nor is price protected. You made the buy of the year.

fyi..if I'm not entirely mistaken..the Ahab series of reels is made by Olympic. The Tycoon series are the only one's still made by Finnor.

I've got a 2 speed and a single speed, they are heavy 38 & 40 oz. and the first 2 speed jumped out of gear landing a 20 lb. fish. I had to wait 3 months to get it and it failed the first week. They are well finished on the outside but Shimano is much more dependable. For over $600 you should get some piece of mind.
