SUBJECT: # 4320: Weird Things People Do

Submitted by Larry (68.218.108.122) from GEORGIA on 4/6/2008 8:01:00 PM

I work for a boat dealer as a tech and am at the ramp all the time. One fine summer day I watched a truck with about 5 adults and 6 kids in it tow a 26 foot cuddy cruiser to the ramp, back it into the water, PUSH it off the trailer and then wade in and turn the boat around at the end of the ramp. They pull the truck up to the lot while one man stayed behind to hold the boat. Then came the line of people from the lot carrying coolers, a grill, bags of food, life jackets, etc. They wade out to the boat and try to get all this stuff up on the swim platform, up to their chest in water. They finaly all manage to get aboard. Without triming the outdrive down he starts the engine and puts it in gear and tries to move ahead, figures it out and trims it in and takes off at full throttle while in the no wake zone. Can you say MORON? There was a courtesy dock right there. They could have loaded the boat in the lot and pulled it to the dock to load the people, that would have taken 10 min.instead they tied up the ramp for half an hour. Thankfully there is more than one lane at this ramp. Watch yourself you may be on the lake at the same time as these idiot.

....eye wood have probably waded out thar and joined the party and then subliminally offered them some tips on the stuff you pointed at in yore brief recollection posted above.

You know Larry, it seems thar is never a shortage non-thinking people hangin around the Boat Ramp on practically any given day and quite naturally we always find it refreshing when we can see so many faults in others that it makes for a story or three to share right here with all our friends.

    Thanks fer sharin.

I feel that to own a boat most people need to take a boater safety course just like a drivers license course.

Most new boaters do not know that there are rules of the road on the lake to. When we deliver a new boat and have to teach the owner how to drive and dock it, we recomend a safe boating course to them. Some take it some don't.
