SUBJECT: # 4323: Tellin one on me

Awhile back I bought a 14 foot jon boat with trailer,trolling motor, depthfinder and seats for 500 bucks (stole it my be a better word great deal) Wood in the transom was rotten so I replaced it.We had a 15h.p. honda on a stand at work so I borrowed it. Started the motor on the muffs and it seemed o.k. Went to the ramp on saturday and paid my 3 skins to launch. She fired right up but would not idle but I already paid so I am going to fish. Put it in reverse and gave it some gas to pull off the trailer and guess what? No tilt lock pin, motor reared up and soaked me down. A few choice words later I'm off looking for blowdowns to fish. After one 13inch spotted bass and an hour of 25 to 30 mile an hour winds I head in. So did everyone else it seems. 15 boats or so waiting to take out (only 6 ramps on this lake are open due to low water, Lake Lanier Ga.) I knew it would take me a while so I hung back. With the crosswind and the motor quitting on me as I tried to load it back on the trailer it must have taken 8 tries and 20 min. to get it on the trailer. I would get close,the wind would push me off course,I would forget and throw it in reverse, yep got wet again!Let off the throttle and it would die, yank the rope 2 or 3 time to get it started, circle around and try it again. People standing by their rigs waiting to put in just a shakin their heads and laughing at me. I was already wet so I could have just loaded it by hand but I am to hard headed for that. Anyway I worked on the motor this week and will be trying it again this weekend. Wish me luck!!

First off, on da story, I'm going to say that I would also be laughing and shaking my head like the others that were waiting your comedy act to end.Secondly, forget about a humerous name fer your bote, since you provide enough of that loading and unloading as so many others do. Just name it something like "Watch This" or "Justa Minute" or even "Goofball".

ps: Are you going to buy an outboard or just keep borrowing that un from werk? Me? I'm thinkin of hookin up with a new Honda 20hp fer my lil ole troliner whenst I get back to Casa del Toro. Thanks fer askin.

Why buy when I can use one free? One of the perks of working for a dealer. Honda makes a good engine but I prefer Yamaha when it comes to 4 strokes. Oh yeah, 20 horse, better make it electric start.
