SUBJECT: # 4325: What Knot

Submitted by mbtb2311721 (134.78.110.18) from ALABAMA on 4/21/2008 2:58:00 PM

I have not told this one in a few years but here goes. While stationed at Fort Drum NY I had gotten one of the many 4 day passes training holidays that we took for granted so I headed out to my favorite lake, Black Lake where the big uns lurk. Anyway about 6 in the morning on a Thursday there is not a soul at the ramp just me and my four legged daughter Tasha and a RV parked in the parking lot. I launch no problems and slip a dock line to hold her while I park the truck. I get back to the dock after Tasha does her morning potty ritual and the boat is 50 feet from the dock with my dock line hanging from the cleat on the bow. Darn wind blew up just enough that I should have made a know and not just slipped the rope on the dock. Its about 60 degrees and I don't want to get wet. I turned to Tasha and told her to get the boat excutedly she jumps off the dock swims to the boat and tries to figure a way to get in. She is confused I am yelling at her to grab the rope which she finally does but is not happy that the rope is attached to the boat which weighs a bit more than her. She gives up and I get undressed. To my birthday suit I go, naked feet and all (algae is slippery on those ramps)since I had no other clothes with me. There I am getting into cold water with Tasha coming in because she wants to play fetching the boat I did not properly ties off. I get the boat get out of the water dry off best I can and proceed to get dressed when I hear a screech. I turn around with all half inch of glory hanging (did I mention cold water) to see a elderly couple of standing in front of their RV laughing at me and my shiny white hiney. All I could do was laugh at wave at them.

"Half inch of glory" aint that umkay? At least not from the woods where I growed up.

Anyhow, thanks fer sharin and you can be sure that someone is always lurking around the Bote Ramp just waiting for something like this to happen.

Next thing you know, someone is going to post your "glory" on the I-net, and then yule prolly have trouble getting a date.......iffin you know what I'm sayin here.
