SUBJECT: # 4330: New Ford Truck

Submitted by BruceInDacula #13322 from GEORGIA on 5/29/2008 4:56:00 PM

It was the end of a decent day of fishing on Lake Lanier. As many of you know, Lake Lanier is suffering from a severe drought and the lake level is way down. About 13 feet down at this particular time. Many of the open ramps only have one usable lane so patience is definitely a virtue at these limited launch ramps.

Well, my fishing partner had let me out of the boat to get his truck and trailer and I was about fourth or fifth in line for the one open lane. The guy on the ramp was trying to launch a huge trailered boat and the water and ramp combo wasn't going to work for him, so after trying unsuccessfully for about 15 minutes, he pulls out and just leaves. The next guy was getting a little impatient but now it was his turn. He was towing a short single jet ski trailer and was trying to get setup to back down the ramp and pick up his jet ski.

Well, without the jet ski loaded, he couldn't see his trailer. Oh yeah, let me say he had made it clear that he was in a brand new Ford F-150 four-door 4x4. Since he couldn't see his trailer behind the truck, he would over-steer one way and then the other. He did this a couple of times and then stopped and let the tailgate down. It wouldn't go down all the way because of the winch on the end of the trailer. I guess he thought that was gonna be low enough though because he left it laying on the trailer and got back in the truck. Yep, you guessed it. He couldn't see any better and jack-knifed his trailer back and forth about four more times.

I finally yelled out that he should probably just walk the trailer down to the bottom, reconnect and load. It would save him alot of time. He liked that idea and proceeded down the ramp with his trailer in hand. When he came back up the ramp I looked at the back of the truck and there was this real pretty silver half-moon stripe right in the middle of his tail-gate. I wonder when he noticed the detail job he did on his trailer? I'm just glad he was a jet ski user!
