A skeg mounted torque tab will virtually eliminate right torque at full trim. It can induce minor left torque at bottom of trim range (holeshot to ~midtrim) depending on size of tab. The cost, welded (not riveted) to your skeg, should be $100 or less.

Basmasr, Put torque tab on Merc 150 HP to correct right pull couple of yrs ago. I ordered the tab from Land & Sea for about $10 and put on myself using pop rivets. I went with Land & Sea as theirs was an annodized black tab (same as my motor) and the one at the local marine shop was grey. Regards, Lee

Often torque is caused by excess motor hieghts. If you have a Jack Plate, we suggest lowering the engine to reduce surfacing propeller blade.

I run a 90hp tiller offshore, so there can be NO pull on the handle. I have been trying a multitude of differing variations of torque tabs. I have been making epoxy casts of varying sizes and shapes for the last couple of years. I have found that not only do they eliminate the pull, they add to the fuel efficency (range) if properly configured. The shape that seens to give the best results, thickens the trailing edge to about .5" (r/h side only) and tapers forward about 1.5". Don't be afraid to cast your own and refine it over time. Paint is about 10 bucks a can.
