would like to hear from Javelin owners, the renegade 19 and the renegade 20 appear to be the best deal going. Great looking boats and prices. What's wrong with these boats?

   Javelin Boats from Steven J. (152.163.204.52)  2/24/1999 9:35:00 PM
I have a '96 Javelin 389TDC, the precursor to the renegade 19. No spider cracks, but my hull was made with a Kevlar material that is now an option, don't really know if that is the reason why I have no cracks now. The boat is very stable and forgiving to an unexperienced driver, and yet it is not a real dog. People will pass you, but if you go with max. HP not too many will. I have the 150 Faststrike and the boat is rated at 175. It performs well regardless. Storage is abundant and well placed. I don't think you can go wrong for the money, but if you can find a Stratos similarly priced buy it instead. Stratos is now OMC's elite, with Javelin being the value minded line. Hope this helps, e-mail me with any specific questions. Steven J.

I am the PROUD owner of a 1999 Renegade 20 with a Johnson 225 HO on the back. I am very impressed with the boat and especially with the ride. The boat rides very well up to 80 mph. Yes my boat will run 80 mph and as a matter of fact it will run a little better than 80. It has plenty of storage space which is very important to me. It also fishes well and is stable. It is true that Stratos is the upper crust of this family but I don't believe there is that much difference for the extra money. Both are great boats and both will provide you with a great fishing tool.

Javelin boats are probably the best bang for the buck on the market today. I looked at one when buying a new boat this past fall and one of the only reasons I didnt buy one was the fact that I couldnt see what the new 99s looked like and my dealer didnt really know the diffrences between them. You wont go wrong buyin a Javelin. Ken. btw I priced out a fully loaded 18 footer with a 150 ficht and the price was 18,500.

I own a 1997 Javelin 369SDC and I am very happy with the boat. I did a lot of looking, as this is my first boat and I probably won't get to move to a bigger one for several more years. I looked at Nitro, Ranger, Stratos and even a multi-species Smoker Craft. Now to be honest the fit and finish of my 17 footer does not really compare to what I saw in the R72. I have metal toggle switches for dash controls, the trim I re-glued in some areas and I don't have the 24v trolling motor connection. ( My fishing buddy bought his Ranger in 97 and I fish 40% of the time out of the back of his. ) Having said that, the Javelin was a full 6k less expensive than the Ranger....Plus I got a custom cover, butt seat, two lowrance sonor units and a Javelin Team life vest and ball cap to look snazzy in while running. I have had no major problems with this boat other than a snapped trolling motor wire. This boat runs strong and feels solid. I am a little concerned with the re-sale value but then I don't plan on selling it until I get my monies worth.

As for performance, it is not too shabby. I have a 90 Johnson ( wish I had got the 115 Fast Strike ) and turn a 19" Raker at 5400 RPMs and the speedo reads 47. I am guessing this is a little happy and figure I am running 42-44 depending on load and equipment. I think if you bought the Javelin you would have a fine boat for many, many years.

Bang

The new javelins have wood in them compaired to the stratos that doesn't , thats were the big cost savings are butt they still have the same hull wty. as a stratos and they have drop in storage boxes that are cheaper to make than molded in ones..for a first timer or on a bodget they are hard to beat for profomance and price

I have a '98 400B Javelin w/ a 225hp Johnson 26p prop. This is my second Javelin and I feel that for the money you can't beat the price. Plenty of storage and the boat will Flat get up and go 80-83mph (gps) at 6000rpm and its stable up to 80, then it wants to chine a little. Over all GREAT BOAT

I don't claim to have the fastest or the best, but I own a 1991 Javelin 389 with 175 Evinrude. The gel coat still looks new, carpet excellent, seats in great shape, every button and switch on the boat still works like brand new. Drives so easy a kid could drive it. Only will do about 68 mph, but that gets me there. Still want my honest opinion?? Buy Javelin......

Have 1998 Javelin 389SD w/175 Evinrude 25p Renegade. Boat gets on plane real nice, not hard to drive, good speed, fishes well. I would buy another one for the $$ value. Test drive one and buy if you like it. Also, get max HP for which ever model you get.

I am interested in purchasing a Javelin, but I would like to have some figures before I go to my local dealer. Is there a websight where I could get invoice prices for the Javelin?
