The tilt trim switch on my throtle lever went out. Well actually only the down portion of the rocker switch went out. The motor still will trim up and down from the bow or the motor, my question is how hard is it to replace the switch in the throtle lever. Or maybe install a new switch that is attched to steering wheel?

Turn signal type from Bob Davis (198.3.123.30)  7/13/1999 1:18:00 PM
Kbad, first, it may be a wire break near the switch. Are you certain that the switch itself is bad? If you just want to add a safer operating switch and still have 2 hands on the steering wheel, I can tell you that the turn signal type switch by Teleflex is about $40 at Bass Pro and the way to go. I bought one and installed it on my boat with no problems. It was fairly easy to do and has worked well. I would not recommend the thumb button style on the steering wheel. I had nothing but problems with it. Bob
Turn signal trim switch is definitely the way to go! from Al (209.135.84.247)  7/13/1999 10:19:00 PM
I've got the Teleflex turn signal type and it's definitely the only way to go. You can keep both hands on the steering wheel and just trim up or down with one finger. One point on the thumb buttons for the steering wheel; these definitely won't work well if you have hydraulic steering, given that the steering wheel doesn't come back to the same center every time. You will originally place the buttons at the 10 and 2 position, but they'll rarely be there. Take care, Al.

Thanks for the input guys. I will stay away from the steering wheel thumb switch.
