Ok guy, here's the deal, broke the steering cable on my trolling motor this morning. Nobody around has one, does anyone know where I might find one?? 12/24 volt OMC, foot control. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What... from John  7/10/2001 8:34:00 PM
...is the model number of the unit? (I'm assuming it's the old style OMC & not the new Evinrude/MinnKota). Is it the 5 foot or 8 foot cable?

Try Travis marine next to tims ford state park they have a trolling motor repair dept and if they don't have it they can get it by the next day,They are one of the areas largest dealers in boats and motors.

Depending on where it broke from Nightmare  7/10/2001 11:09:00 PM
you can have it welded back together. I had mine break under the pedal where the threaded portion ended and slick portion started while on a trip The part was unavailable so I found a welding shop. The guy had a challenge as he couldn't find a perfect match to the stainless alloy of the cable but he did get it back together and I was back in business. the guy only charged me $5 for the fix but I felt guilty about the amount of time he had put into it trying to get the best match of material. I gave him $20 cause he sure could have been getting more business done and he made time for me when I walked in (one man shop).

I bought a new cable when I got home. Price was about $65 at that time. I kept the other one for a spare and it roosts in the rod locker.
