I have the chance to purchase a 99 Triton 180 premier with a Merc 150 XR6. The boat has less than 200 hours and is in good shape. I can get the boat for 13000. Is this a good price and what are the differences between a 180 and the TR18 of that year. This boat seems to have the nice seats, hydraulic lift for the lids, full instrumentation, etc. I am kinda confused as why people say this is a stripped down TR18. Thanks for any help.

Not a stripped down version from carp (65.91.136.3)  3/21/2002 1:24:00 PM
It's not even the same boat. The TR-18 has a vortex hull which is faster then the premier it also has dual livewells (no divider) more storage and standard equipment. the TR-18 is just a smaller version of the TR19 great boat wish they still made it I like it better then the 186.

   ahem... I own one from Triton180DC (208.54.197.211)  3/21/2002 2:53:00 PM
It is faster than the TR-18 of same year. The only thing I dont like is the livewell being divided but Ive never had a problem with that. Im getting 64mph out of it(today), still dialing in the jackplate. I have the Johnson 150, hotfoot, and 8" plate, It rocks compared to other small boats. That sounds like an excellent price. And you should love it. Yes I want a TR21 too, but there is about $10000 difference so Im still slaying the fish and running with most of the big boats. The Tr18 has the supposed faster hull and is slightly wider, dual livewells, and maybe another dry compartment. But Id buy it and be happy.

   Well, sounds fun. from Triton180DC (208.54.197.47)  3/21/2002 6:27:00 PM
You probably are faster, But I am loving this 8" jack plate. Im still raising it and picking up a lil speed. But For looks Id have to go with a TR18. But as far as speeds people have posted they seem slower on the tr18 for the most part. Mine are GPS verified so I know for sure what mine are, I do like the holeshot of the 180, But Im loseing a bit with the height Im running now.

Id love to come down and fish, not too high on racing, But I need to Get to FORK, TBEND, Or MILLWOOD because the fish here just aint big enough, and everything is flooded. So the Race is On.

By the way You going to the TOTIII?

I was just joshing, not really after a race either! Truth be known, my boat gps's about where yours does, around 64. I'm running a 4" plate now, but I feel like a 6" would serve me better. Only problem is it wouldn't fit into the garage! So......I'm looking for a bigger garage. I also haven't done any prop swapping yet, well, just once, with a 23" LazerII that was a real dog on my boat, but does well on a friend's ProCraft. I would really like to try out a 23M Yam or 23 Tempest. Maybe I'll get my hands on one sometime. As for the TOTIII, it's not that I wouldn't like to go, it's mainly because my truck has seen it's better days and I would be a little nervous to haul my boat that far right now. That said, I DO go down to Toledo Bend once in awhile, since I can get there in just over an hour from Bossier City. I'll be fishing a Top Six tournament there in May. You might want to check out Caddo Lake sometime, or the Red River. Either of those would be worth the trip! Might want to wait a week though, the water is getting pretty high right now! I tried to reply with an email, but you don't give one. If you ever want to come down here and fish, give me a shout.

Marty
