    Replacing Triton rod locker locks

How difficult is it to replace the locking mechanism that comes stock with the boat? Also,is there an aftermarket lock that is covered better than the small plastic/rubber caps that are stock? Over the last couple of years grime has gotten in the lock and they are starting to become difficult to secure. This has been the only issue I have had to deal with on my 186, everything else is perfect.

Triton hatch cover locks..,. from bonefish  3/23/2002 8:04:00 AM
They are lousy and don't secure the box from being opened. I never bothered to lock mine. That locking ss bar that's made for security appears to be a good investment to keep rods & tackle from being stolen.

I think they are made by perko : http://www.perko.com
Mark andd Bonefish are right but there is a fix.... from John in Tennessee  3/23/2002 12:27:00 PM
It's called the LocrBar. I bought one on sale at BPS for $74.99. It's a s/s bar that goes across your deck. It's not real pretty but it's tough and can be gotten around but they would have to make so much noise you might catch them.

John, Did you install the Locr Bar yourself? How did it turn out? How can it be "gotten around"? I have been considering getting one since my compartment locks are worthless as well. Thanks, Bob
