Anyone have an idea how much a new gel coat costs? I really only need the top cap done. Thanks.

   $400-$800 from Gabe Cartee (  7/19/2007 8:09:00 AM
Depending on size of boat and quality of materials and craftsmanship.

   2500.00 from Jet-A-Marina  7/19/2007 1:04:00 PM
To do the total top cap i would guess around 2500.00, we have had some done before and that is real close depending on what boat you have. Rodney

Actually... from mule holler (  7/19/2007 1:49:00 PM
All I need done is the top cap sides. Inner part of the boat is fine.

   About $2500 from Joe (  7/19/2007 7:12:00 PM
Based on my experience it will cost about $2500 to have it done right and look good for years to come. Bring it over to my house and I will do it for $500 plus materials but I gurantee you it will be a piece of craq for the long term.

Try this...worked for me from Jt (  7/20/2007 7:08:00 AM
If you can buff your paint to a nice shine then try New Glass 2. For $40 a bottle this stuff is a miracle gelcoat product goes on easy and stays shiney.

   Alternatives from paul (  7/20/2007 8:51:00 AM
My friend's boat has the flake coming through on the top cap, any alternatives to gel coat?

Sorry to jump the post.

I've actually thought of painting the topcap white so I don't have to mess with fading, but tape out the triton symbol on the sides so I can keep it. Has anyone actually ever done this?

All you need to do is take it to a auto body shop and see what it would cost to clear coat the top.probably can get done from 2 to $500 . Ive done this myself for about $150 and some time. the boat looked better than it did new. Some people will say that you can not do this but they do the same thing on corvette's and you dont see any problems with them. exact same material.anyway i hope this helps
