Once you get the box out from BCB  12/18/2008 7:33:58 PM
It will be easy to see the cable clamp and the pin holding the end of the cable once you remove the control box.

Use a Platinum or Premium cable for replacement. Don't get the off brand or the standard black jacket models. They are not nearly as good and we use all Grey jacketed Premium cables in Mercury only.

Cant get the box out..... Help from Nitro190tf #15462  12/19/2008 3:44:32 PM
I dont know how to get the handel off to get to the control box. can any body help thanks

Hard to say from BCB  12/20/2008 12:55:22 AM
Nitro / Tracker used an aftermarket control box on some of those older boats and we can't say what brand it is. The handle usually has a set screw on a slight angle in the bottom of the handle. You should be able to see the hole if it is a Mercury. Then you can access the bolts or screws on the inside of the plastic insert panel. The newer ones have a full stem nut.

If it is not a Mercury, then we don't know what brand it is. They used Morse and Teleflex from memory.

   Its a quicksilver 3000 series.. any ideas? from Nitro190tf #15462  12/21/2008 3:02:33 PM
I need to know how to remove the handle from the control box to access the box on the other side of the boat wall. Any body have an idea?

The handle comes off by removing the plastic button ion in the center of the control handle and removing the bolt underneath. The cover for most simply pops off.
Hope this helps, when replacing take BCB advice and save yourself future work.
