Mounting batteries up under a pontoon boat deck

Here's my process for cramming three batteries right up under the deck of my small pontoon boat. You see a tilt as each side gets jacked to insert one board at a time. When the 'toon started to lift off the trailer, I bolted it in place.

Check out that 5/0 welding cable. I run at 80+ amps so size matters.

   Cool from Fisherboy #10852  3/24/2010 1:34:04 PM

Now all you need to do is put a hatch through the deck, so you don't have to go through all of that again.

Or tig you together a Alumn box and weld it to the joists, then install the hatch.

You can do the same thing in your house, with a biometric lock, and put you homedefense goodies and important papers in there. No will ever find it, unless they craw through you basement.

Looks good but from Bender, MS Gulf Coast  3/28/2010 11:26:36 AM
Gonna be hard to check the water or get to the leads and If you around any brackish water you will probably get some fish up to where you can pick them up with a dip net. AND if you ad one more phat girl to the party, judging from your water line it should give the swimmers a nice experience.

Kidding.

   I wish from Randy B  3/28/2010 7:57:05 PM
that Fisherboy had given me his idea last month. I just recarpeted that boat and it would have been easy to do.

Now I am reluctant to cut the hatchway since I can't roll the carpet down the lip. It could still be done, but now they are up there and I am pretty tired of working on the boat.
