Storage step or convenience unit to replace the center seat in a Ranger 520?

Where, when and how much?

Also should I decide to keep the center seat I need that button or latch that is in the side of the passenger seat that holds down the seat back on the center seat. Does that make any sense? Anyone know where to get those outside of my local Ranger dealer?

Thanks ahead guys,

Wacko: The only place that I know you can order that STUPID button is from Ranger. That's a "guaranteed to break" part and the original center seats like that on the early designs did not have that button and worked just as well.

Can you remove the center seat? I thought they were all like my R91...where all 3 seats are one unit.

I don't know Jeff. I could on my Triton but this is little brothers boat. from Wackoman  3/22/2012 1:20:13 PM

All I know is that seat is a waste of space in every bass boat I have ever been in. If you got ride three put the throw able in there for someone sit on.

Either that or do like me and with fat bottom girls!

only a waste Wack if you don't need it from MikeF  3/22/2012 1:35:33 PM
That seat isn't a waste if you have grandchildren.

There was some discussion on here maybe 3-5 yrs ago about that breakable button and I recall some guy discussing some he was machining from metal (vs plastic) and I think he was offering them for sale. Not sure of the details of removal of that flip seat, but if it can be removed; your brother could do what I did in my older Ranger and replace it with a wood step. My small vinyl covered foam seat was held in with some industrial quality velcro, and I cut a couple of 2x12s to match the angles of the insert (looked like a parallelogram when done) and screwed/glued them on top of each other to get the right height, painted with some latex paint for waterproofing, covered the top with some boat carpet and installed with some HD velcro on the bottom. Lot firmer and safer to step on that the original.
Did you get that Carroll family e-mail I sent you?

Thanks Bill. I didn't get the email or at least I can't find it. sorry. How long ago? from Wackoman  3/23/2012 7:41:59 AM

Send it again if you can

Just sent you two articles, one about the Carrolls and the other about their heritage back to the old country. Enjoy.
