    Warning beep when trimming
from nitrobass #10491 #10491

I have a Mercury 225 Xps engine. Intermittently when I hit the trim I get a one beep warning. Oil resorvoir is over half full and the small resorvoir under the cowling is full. Any ideas on the cause?

RPMs? from JohnM  7/7/2012 6:32:48 PM
 Are you hitting the limiter?

Only when idling from nitrobass #10491 #10491  7/7/2012 8:40:06 PM
Nope. It does it when I trim while idling. Doesn't do it while I am running

Sounds electrical from Randy B  7/7/2012 9:47:46 PM
Do you feel your battery is strong and corrosion free? Do your electronics glitch at the same time?

If it doesn't do it when you are running, the alternator is putting out a big voltage then. At idle, you are mainly on the battery. Maybe you should loadtest that battery.

clean the battery terminals and put the wires back on with the motor terminals first then go largest to smallest on top.

Thanks Dwight. Problem solved. It was corrosion on the positive terminal. Fished today with no problems.

good to hear, now put dielectric grease on it from MikeF  7/11/2012 9:47:57 AM
These terminals corrode because of dissimilar metals in contact in an oxygen environment. The grease prevents contact with air so no corrosion can occur.
