    Yamaha C-series vs Saltwater series

Is the Saltwater series worth the extra money for the 150 HP? It appears the major differences are a "better" aluminum alloy, larger zincs, and a freshwater flush. The larger zincs shouldn't matter since the motor spends 99% of its time raised completely out of the water. The freshwater flush is more convenient if the boat is on a lift, but not thousands of dollars more convenient. Your thoughts?

   If I could... from Barlow (150.176.111.17)  10/18/1998 9:07:00 PM
If I could trade my 200 sw series yam for a 200 C (if they made it)..I would do it in a minute...I had the 115 C series and loved it...never had to worry about the oil mix and all the extra things to go wrong...I do like the higher output alternator and the charging setup but other than that you can have the sw series...way too much money for what you get..

I bought a new c150 this summer and Love it. It is my first large OB and I looked at everything on the market. I was interested in fuel-injected and oil injected motors but ended up going with this one. It is plane jane but has always started flawlessly. After I bought mine ($6850 not including prop) I noticed that most of the commercial fishermen here in La have the c150 hung on their boats. They say that the c series outlasts all other motors on the market. The same goes for the smaller c series. The engine is pretty similar to the saltwater series and it a much better value. - my .02
