I am cataloging my old fishing tapes from the late 1980's and 90's. I can tell you one thing. ALL THESE SHOWS ARE SUPERIOR TO ANYTHING ON TV TODAY. I can't think of one of the current shows that show you what these shows did back then. ESPECIALLY THE BASSMASTERS. Wow. have a great show and ruin it. We need to campaign to force ESPN to either repeat all these old shows or put them on DVD. You want to learn bass fishing this is the way to go..

I would love to hear constructive comments.

I loved the old shows where it was about teaching people how to fish, without all of the theatrics you see today. Unfortunately, once bass fishing turned into a big business we lost that atmosphere.

   I learned.. from Luvie  10/25/2007 3:27:00 PM
watching Hank Parker, Larry Nixon and others in the "old days" as well. About the only show that teaches anything today is the "Bass Pros". I've learned a lot watching that one. Martin and Dance used to be good but now they just sell stuff or you get to watch them catch 7lbers from a private pond.

I'd pay for copied of the oldies too!

old bass shows from lmartinez (71.141.105.139)  10/25/2007 3:38:00 PM
i use to like to watch orlando wilson show and the older jimmy houston and roland martin shows too i use to have them taped on my vh tapes but i think i have them stored away somewere great info on them len

Good old days from Mr. X (209.195.178.226)  10/25/2007 3:44:00 PM
The old Bassmasters show from the 80's - mid 90's was the best. Ray and Bob kept it simple and exiting, they showed alot in a half hour show, and it was on the same time every sunday. I quit watching about 10 years ago. Also liked Fishing with Orlando Wilson,he always fished public water and could catch fish.

Why don't you copy them to a DVD and offer from Fisher 73 (71.70.202.141)  10/25/2007 4:43:00 PM
them for sale on here. You would have to get copy right permission to sell them I guess. But shoot I wouldn't tell!

Yep, and the anglers were gentlemen back in the day... from jus2manylures (74.135.195.121)  10/25/2007 8:39:00 PM
Showed respect for each other, and didn't see the need to impune another angler's character.

Different times.

   C'mon-it's a lot better today from Beartrap (68.217.200.190)  10/25/2007 10:36:00 PM
loved the old shows but had to wait 6 months to see them and you really only got to see one or two contestants.....we get same day coverage of some events now and most of the others are shown within a week or so....they cover more contestants(all of those catching fish) and show where on the lake they are fishing....I thought the tourny last year on the Arkansas lake using their electronics to fish brushpiles was probaly the most informative I've ever seen but if you want "how to" fishing info-buy you a instructional DVD-if you want coverage of an event, watch Bassmasters or FLW....

there is an old Orlando Wilson show.. from bjlc (204.73.103.253)  10/26/2007 7:58:00 AM
that shows a lake in Georgia that is 17 feet low. It explains road beds, points, rocks and stumps on a point like no other show that I have ever seen. Its the best.

Yes the bassmasters may show a lake and more competitors but its still not even 10 % of what it used to be.

thats the truth.

fish shows from John Lorenzo (207.68.114.48)  10/26/2007 9:51:00 AM
I like to know when one of the outdoor networks is going to realize that it would be profitable to have one channel that does nothing but fishing and show especially tournament shows, ones from the 80's til now, I think it would go over big, plus I need something to watch when there is 2 ft of ice on my home lake!

FLW Shows from Chris Moore (12.176.2.10)  10/26/2007 10:03:00 AM
The first 2 years of the FLW were really good shows. Do you have a copy of those years?

I believe the first two years of FLW was ESPN and JM... from Cat (68.223.48.88)  10/26/2007 1:06:00 PM
before ESPN bought BASS and put the Top 150 on ESPN. So if you liked the first two years of FLW it is the exact same as Bassmaster's today. I could be wrong but I think that is correct.

bjlc, we need to talk from Lynn Dollar (68.12.26.92)  10/26/2007 1:33:00 PM
If you like the old Bassmasters shows, then we need to talk. I have a large collection that I've transfered to DVD. Would be very interested in talking trade for any episodes I might not have. I have every show they made from about 1992 to present and most from 1984 to 1992.

Contact me at lynndollar1@yahoo.com

And like Chris Moore, I've been looking for the 96 and 97 FLW for a long long time.

   Bassmaster Classic Library from 203 (24.168.242.99)  10/30/2007 8:52:00 AM
Before BASS stopped selling the VHS series of the Bassmaster Classic a good friend that worked at BASS in Birmingham was cleaning his office and had a complete set of tapes that he gifted to me. I asked about getting them on DVD and he was gracious enough to send me the entire set of tapes. Those where the years before ESPN, when the Classic trips were like a family reunion.

The tapes are a blast to watch and are commercial free. Interesting to watch and see many of the same techniques from the 70's and 80's still winning events.

I like the old shows as well. from Lynn (12.154.106.45)  10/31/2007 12:02:00 AM
The new ones are about like watching infomercials.
