Which knot to tie when splicing braid to mono?

I've got my spool about half filled with Maxima 10 lb. I want to fill the rest with braid. What knot should I tie to join the mono to the braid? I'm using the 6 lb diameter 30 lb test spiderwire braid. Thanks in advance, Terry G.

What Knot...? from Arby (4.3.97.96)  2/1/1999 5:14:00 PM
Terry....I use a "Blood Knot" and a wee drop of super glue just to make sure, but I haven't had a knot come loose without the glue either.

Terry, I use the "Uniknot". Never had a problem with it. If you would like to see how it is tied, go to http://www.jwa.com/fishing/spiderwire/spiderwire.htmlnd click on knot tying on the left of the page..

The uni knot is also my choice, its easy to tie, just pull upreal slow, and use a little saliva to luricate the knot
Uni to Uni Splice vs. blood knot. from Lucky Al (32.100.139.227)  2/2/1999 9:37:00 AM
I recently bought a spool of Power Pro from Big Al. With the spool comes a little pamphlet showing how to tie the uni-to-uni splice, which was new to me. It definately held better than the blood knot. When I first tried the old blood knot, and tested it, the mono would pull right out. The uni did not. When tying it, tighten the tag end moderately, so when you pull the two standing lines, the two uni's will pull together. Then tighten up the tag ends a little more. Trim the mono as close to the knot as you can, and then cut the braid about 1/8" past the knot. It took a couple of times to get it right. Now I'll always use it for mono to braid.
