Planning a trip to Caney Lake in Jonesboro next week. Want to know a good place to go and what to use bait-wise. Thanks.

Hi Brownlee, My boats been broke down since march 1st, just got it out of the shop 2 days ago, so I can't give you any firsthand information, but a friend of mine who is a guide has been doing real well with finesse worms fished on spinning gear, either junebug or watermelon depending upon wether or not it is sunny or cloudy, clear water or stained. Another friend of mine has been doing good with finesse worms on standard baitcasting equip. A lot of fish moved in to spawn with that last full moon we had, march 31st, so this is the time of year I start fishing for spawners on main lake stuff, such as shallow humps. Two of these places are easy to find now since the state has put out some brush, old tires and pallets out and marked them with yellow bouys. You won't go wrong with a carolina rig in these areas. These 2 places are about mid lake out in the middle, you can't miss them. When you get to the bouys troll around and watch you graph, you'll see how the hump lies, one of them comes up to 4-5 ft deep and the other one comes up to 5-7 ft deep, fish the whole area out to about 14 ft deep. You should still be able to catch fish along banks with finesse worms, craw worms, and bass assassin soft jerkbaits, etc. Let me know when you are going, I might be going before you do and can maybe let you know more, although I need to go to D'arrbonne next week and sink some brush for a tournament coming up in June. I might make a night trip to caney next week.

Hey, I appreciate your response. It looks like we'll be heading over there Fri. April 16. I just hope it won't be storming!
