A friend of mine told me to start fishing my tube baits T-rigged with a slip sinker and stuff an alka seltzer in them. Has he had one to many fizzies or does this work??? What about the smell??? Please help I don't want to be treating my bass for heart burn if this is some joke

Alka seltzer does work. But now I use a product called crackle that comes in a capsule form. Just clip the end of the capsul stuff it in the tube and hold on. It disolves slowely and makes alot more sound than seltzer. The smallies around here love it. Good luck Phil

Does it harm the fish? -nmsg from SiluntE  2/26/2001 9:35:00 AM

Actually, SiluntE, I heard... from LedHed  2/26/2001 3:50:00 PM
it cures their indigestion after gorging on shad :)

Unfortunately, it makes them sneeze a lot too....

about 10yrs ago Mann's had what they called "pocket worms". 7" long and had a pouch under it. We would put a small chunk of alka selzer in and it would really "help" catch bass. We never had a fish kill so I don't think its toxic to them.sometimes a little lockjaw but no heartburn lol Ya'll take care

I heard bass explode, floating any other game fish within 10' around them to the surface. Sort of like blast fishing. Take a chill-pill Jill I'm just kidding. Sounds like I might try some seltzer in a tube jig on my next outing. Thanks for the info.

Awl right folks -- was just wondering from SiluntE  2/26/2001 10:50:00 PM
(or should that be wandering:) -- given that chocolate is toxic to dogs and aspirin is toxic to cats I was just wondering what effect Alka Seltzer had on bass.

Actually, Paul and I tried the trick a couple of trips last year... it is a bit of a pain getting the stuff in, and dissolves quickly. Those new crackle packs are probably the way to go...
