    Baby duck lures?
from Ispot

I know they used to manufacture lures that imitate baby ducks. Does anyone know where I can possibly find one, and does anyone here fish with one? Any help is always appreciated, thanks!

   Bird lures... from RichZ©  5/9/2001 7:34:00 AM
Not sure if he had ducks, but since he has about every kind of bird lure you would imagine you might want to try Ron Troyer at www.thornwoodlures.com. The bird lures are his 'signature' but he makes about the best hand carved wooden topwater baits around.

That reminds me of a story from RickR  5/9/2001 10:03:00 AM
That I think Bill Dance told a long time ago. It seems like he was watching this bass busting the surface just under a red-winged blackbird that kept swooping by. He watched a few minutes as the bird would fly by the bank and the bass would bust the surface. Well, he finally decided to try to catch the bass and, as usual, succeeded. This was back when people still kept fish. When he got home and cleaned the bass, he found a stomach full of bird shadows.

Used one almost 40 years ago. from Sandy  5/9/2001 5:11:00 PM
Me and my brother-in-law used one in Michigan around 1961. Used to quack while the yellow baby duck with brown spots and little blades on feet with trebble hooks came wabbling back. It was a good laugh, never did catch anything though. Saw one on Ebay several years ago going for 50 something dollars. Whos laughing now?

Couldn't find anything, but I'll keep looking. from Ispot  5/9/2001 10:07:00 PM
Looked through everything from old messages to muskie shops, no such luck. The one I remember was yellow with two silver colorado spinners as feet, and a good sized treble for hook-up. The bird website was neat, but not quite what I'm looking for. Any other info would be appreciated.

I have seen one in Cabellas fishing specialtys catalog. Looked at it a couple days ago and will look again tommorow and give you more details. Good duck, I mean LUCK! Terry
