Rated:

Going to purchase a new rain suit? Which is the best one for cold rian and wind. I fish all year in MO. Its seems Cabelas guide wear is unavaiable or changing? Cant get it in my size 2xL tall and color? Would you get the insulated or not? What about BPS 100mph or Pro Qualifier series? I dont want to make a mistake on this expensive of a rain suit? Thank You

Send you wife to buy it for you as a present-- it was the only way I could make myself pay that much for a suit. IT IS WORTH EVERY DOLLAR.

It doubles as your morning wind breaker, cold weather monkey suit, and the dryest raingear you can buy.

Just lost mine-- had it on for a break down ride in and left it at the weigh in gallery-- someone has picked up a 5 yr old set of the best rain gear on the market

GREEN IN COLOR-- WRAPPED IN A MERCURY LIFE JACKET WITH KILL SWITCH LANYARD ATTACHED-- ALSO ONE WHITE THROW CUSHION

REWARD OFFERED FOR SAFE RETURN!!!!!!!

Rain Gear--Cabelas or Bass Pro from Mike Whitten  10/28/2009 7:33:40 PM
Must be a Gortex suit with bibs. Guidewear is awfully good stuff, as is the 100 MPH Bass Pro.

Not sure why you say Cabelas is unavailable?

Don't get Insulated, you'll die in moderate temps. Get uninsulated, and layer some Windstopper Fleece under it, if needed.

Brett and Mike are on it again. from old2/75thRanger #14608  10/29/2009 1:30:08 AM
Sorry Brett know the pain lost my suspenders a few years ago; Certainly agree with Mike un-insulated way to go, dress in layers even if you go a size bigger for that reason is not bad...for sure get the Gortex brand as well, which ever BPS or Cabelas both are worth the $$$ well spent.

I haven't tried the 100 mph suit, but a few friends have them. From just looking at them, I'm glad I opted for the Cabela's Guide Series. I've never been wet or cold in mine. Just like Mike said, get the uninsulated ones and put a couple layers underneath.

   Guidewear awesome! from Huskers1995  10/29/2009 9:23:15 AM
I got one too. I even wear them for snow skiing - so comfortable and warm!

ditto on the guidewear from MikeF  10/29/2009 10:19:43 AM
It's worth every dime. I would also ditto going with the bibs. I personally like using the uninsulated bibs but an insulated jacket. I take the jacket off when I stop to fish.

I have Guide Wear and love it, but I also keep a set of el cheapo Forgg Toggs for those freaky days when it warms up to 75 degrees.

   Cabelas from ChipP #11074  10/29/2009 5:31:04 PM
I have had the same suite for 5 years. The thing I would add is to use ReviveX once a year to keep the suit clean and waterproof. Its easy to use and I've found it works well.

Man y'all won't believe this! from Wackoman  10/30/2009 2:04:48 PM

I found a nearly new 100 MPH suit laying on the picnic table near the ramp. It's green so I look like a Christmas tree ornament sitting in the red wacky toon but I'll take it since my guide wear is about wore out.

   Guide wear from KB1 #16007  10/30/2009 10:13:30 PM
One more question? Which Guide wear, the 150 denier or the 500 denier. The 500 is pretty stiff? Thanks

Would you happen to have an extra life jacket??

KB, If you aren't in a big need for a suit, you most likely can save some $ if you get it after the first of the year. Most stores have after Christmas clearances. I got what I think was a good deal at Cabelas about five years ago on a good rain suit. Saved about 30%...BF

   Stearns Mach 1 from Brett M  11/1/2009 11:34:37 AM
As all of you know,, an unfortunate turn of events has left me out of my 100 mph suit. I spent the day at Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday and they had Stearns Mach 1 suits over $100.00 off $263 retail,, paid 149 and change. This is the same design as the 100mph suit but not as much insulation. You might want to check it out--

I am still offering a reward for the safe return of my 100 mph suit. NO Questions-- ONLY APPREICATION of beloved green rainsuit, wrapped up in my RED Mercury life jacket with the kill switch still attached.

If anyone knows who has it, and knows they are holding my poor suit against its will, you can turn then in by emailing the "Anglers Against Rainsuit Obduction Cololition" or A-ROC at brett@FishStalkerTackle.com ! Reward + 50% for information leading to the safe return!!
