update on Southeast Missouri bass fishing

Rated:

I fished Lake Wappapello today. Best day that me or my buddy have ever had on it. Topwater early, then 200 Bandit and big white spinnerbait. Five best pushing 19 to 20lbs. Lots of 2 lb chunks. Basically they were biting. I like week day fishing. But back to the update, only one of the fish had a bloody tail. Water temp is still back at 65(after being 75 two weeks ago). There is a good warm up coming and the full moon is the 8th I think. Just like always the spawn will commence in full next week around these parts.

I will be there fishing with my old fishing club on September 22-23. I'll probably be at Barrett's the 21st about lunch.

I've had some fun on Lake Wappapello. I watch for shallow water. 18-20 lbs is a lot of weight for that lake.

My Granny is from Holcomb and I have relatives in Kennett.

Like I said, they were just biting from RJR  4/26/2012 3:07:01 PM
15 to 20 lbs wins most tournaments there, the most I have ever had was 12 something many years ago. You definitely need to watch for shallow now, it is 2.5 feet below summer pool, and if you get out of the river channel you are usually in 2 ft or less now. Very dangerous. And Cougarcat, you probably know Sept is one of the toughest months for Wappapello.
