Zara Spook Type Baits...Line Tie Question??

How many of you put a split ring on the line tie eye for fishing these type of lures. I have noticed that nearly all Zara Type baits do not come with a split ring on the line tie. Do these baits really walk better without a split ring added?

I use a snap. I never tie directly to the line tie from Spookchucker #10778 #10778  5/1/2012 7:48:37 PM
If you tie directly to a line tie on a walking bait, the knot will weaken and you will be throwing your bait off. Think about it, each time you jerk, you are pulling the knot back & forth across the tie.

I use snaps. Walking baits work better with some kind of free movement.

I use a perfection loop. I never add hardware to the nose of a topwater lure.

I tie directly to the tie. No snap. No loop knot.

Retie often on any walking bait no matter what type or size line you tie..

But thats just me. LOL

   20lb line from dbnaileng #19046  5/3/2012 8:31:24 AM
20lb line and tie directly. the larger line helps the bait stay up on top and your line won't sink as fast which allows you to work the bait slower.

Just my opinion but I also think spooks work better with heavier lines. I like 17#.

i've been chunking one for about 30 years now, and one thing i learned real fast is that they walk better with a good split ring, or a duo lock snap....squeezed shut to make it a permanent part of the bait....20 lb mono or copoly......

The first thing i do on them type of lures is remove the split ring from wolfman_lov #20859  5/21/2012 12:04:59 AM
The first thing i do on them type of lures is remove the split ring, so it wont cut your line. and then a use a good loop knot or a king sling knot. for all my TOPWATER LURES

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING
