    How to fish chatterbait?
from procraftmrk (

I have been following the flw pro circuit and noticed a lot
of the pros on Okeechobee were using this lure.I would like
to know how to make the right presentation with this lure?
Do you fish it in heavy cover or do you fish it in more
open water type situations? Can you pitch to holes in cover
and let it drop? Will this be when the strike occurs or do
you have to be swimming the lure in open water to get the
bites? Thanks,Procraftmrk

on it said that a moderate to high speed retrieve will draw reaction strikes in open water.

I guess the reason why it did so good on Okeechobee was because everybody was having a hard time finding clear water. The water in Moonshine must have been stained. The chatterbait puts out a lot of vibration. So the fish were keying in on it better than the flip style baits because they could find it easier in the stained water. Those people that found clear water could flip.If the wind changed the next day their clear water was gone. That is why the pros had to adjust day to day. Thanks,Procraftmrk

chatttering bait from buzbait (  1/27/2006 9:20:00 AM looks fantastic coming thru the water....the skirt shakes and wiggles and undulates like nothing you have ever seen and the split tail trailer does the same...all this said I could not make it catch fish with any regularity...and it is not as weedless as they would have you believe..I was using in N.C. mostly ....and only for largemouth....did a lot better on a regular spinner bait.. than this contraption....I got some about 3 or 4 years ago when he was making them in his that time some of our North and South Carolina "pros" had access to it .(Jason Quinn, Todd Auten, Chris Baumgardner Davey Hite)and they also found it to be not very effective...maybe they have been improved..???..IMHO it is not the "magic bullet"

Where can you get Chatterbaits? Any sponsers carry them from Whiteboat  1/27/2006 10:20:00 AM

Chatterbaits are great reaction lures, works best in low light conditions. Use trailer hooks, try plastic trailers without skirts for a differant look. They are far from being snag proof, know what you are fishing. 1/4 oz. for shallow water, blue and black is by far the best color.
