   Lake Rousseau from EdgemanP #12082 #12082  8/1/2012 7:57:36 PM
I fished the lake several times when I was living in Ocala. First and foremost, watch out for stumps and standing timber. There's a lot of it under the water. As for fishing,on the lower end, closer to the dam, I tended to use more t-rigged plastics and jigs then anything else. Black, junebug, and watermelon/red worked the best. I also threw medium diving cb's, and spinnerbaits. As I moved up the lake to the riverine section, I would throw plastic stickbaits. I like sluggos, but flukes worked well too. Senkos and swimbaits would probably work well too. I always had better luck up the lake during the summer, and during the bright light periods. I never had to use weights heavier than 1/2 oz to fish the grass. For that I would use craw or beaver style baits.

If you have more specific questions, email me EdgemanP1@aol.com.

the fishing has been pretty good. I have been fishing in the lake but the fishing has been better for me in the river areas. I like to get off the beaten path into areas where others do not go. Mostly worms, flukes and creature baits. Fished in heave cover. Some fish on a jig & pig in the river channel much farther upriver. I haven't been there in a week but I did get a report yesterday about the upriver jig & pig bite.
