Rated:

They played this same show at the Nationals.

Ok. State sould have been disqualified when they cranked the big motor to move the log out of the way.....without life jackets on.

Yeah, but you are biased from Cuejockey  8/5/2012 10:56:58 PM
Let me know if it comes on again, since I cant watch it or DVR it from the lake.

What log?

I thought pulling the log was against rules from LTJ-1  8/6/2012 6:00:16 AM
Pretty sure it is in FLW

It Is BASS from BR400  8/6/2012 7:15:47 AM
Rules specifically state that when the big motor is running, life jackets have to be on and fastened.

It would have changed things since OSU won the National Championship.

I'll try an watch. Rules are rules. Even the stupid ones. nm from Wackoman  8/6/2012 8:12:18 AM
 .

Rules are Rules from Rangerman  8/6/2012 8:28:37 AM
but agree with Wackoman even the stupid ones. But Rules are Rules.

ditto from MikeF  8/6/2012 8:36:49 AM
If they have rules they should be enforced. If they do not want to enforce them then get rid of them.

Fort Gibson Lake Regional from BR400  8/6/2012 8:46:58 AM
OSU was fishing way up a creek and there was a log blocking them from going further upstream. The hook a rope to their Bass Cat and then fire up the 250 and back up pulling the log out of the way. Zona made the comment that I bet Dad doesn't know they are doing this in his boat.

That is fine, moving the log and it didn't even get close to the Bass Cat. I said wait a minute, those boys don't have on a vest......I pointed this out to BR200 when they showed it at JM's place in Little Rock. One of the first rules any tournament organization states is life jackets must be on and fastened anytime the combustion engine is running.
I remember way back at a BASS event on Seminole and Shaw Grigsby was flipping mats and hung a big bass but couldn't get to it with the TM. So, him and his co-angler put on their vests, then he cranked up and ran his Triton up on the mat so he could reach the fish.

If they would have not put on their vests, boom, they would have been DQ'd.

   Biased??? from BR400  8/6/2012 9:04:06 AM
No, just thinking BASS should enforce one of their main rules....especially since they showed it on film.

I pointed this infraction out before the tournament started. The Auburn boys should be the ones with a biased opinion.

betcha from Beartrap   8/6/2012 10:38:27 AM
the second place team wouldn't want to win on a silly azz infraction of this type....too many try to turn bass tournaments into a ¨rules obeying contest'....life jacket rule was never meant for this and they ought to change it to when the boat is on plane to stop these kind of situations from coming up..

Beartrap
I agree Dave. Ten times more likely to fall out while on the trolling motor than you are while sitting down at idle. from Wackoman  8/6/2012 10:42:45 AM

But to quote my 14 year old niece, "Whatever"

PAA at Neely Henry from BR400  8/6/2012 11:08:36 AM
I don't think it is any different than Steve Kennedy at NH Henry losing because he had 6 fish in the livewell.

The guy on the front of the boat could have fallen over and bump his head on the log when they were pulling it back....he was already hanging over the side.

It is way too late for anything to happen but they should have done something about it when they saw the film.

then change the rule from MikeF  8/6/2012 11:11:50 AM
Not to sound like a rule Nazi but either enforce the rules as written or do a better job of writing them.

It's just as bad to enforce stupid rules as it is not it.

If they broke the rule they should have been DQ'ed. from Wackoman  8/6/2012 11:28:47 AM

Not arguing that point. Just saying that it's a bad rule.

That's all. If BASS knew of a rule violation and didn't react then shame on them.

That rule will never be changed. Never. Doesn't mean I can't bitch about it though.

A better rule would be to require a PFD to be worn at all times while on the water. No mix ups then right?

If pulling a log out of the way with the big motor is dangerous then what is standing on the trolling motor off shore at Erie in 4 footers? Yet there's no rule that requires a PFD in the last scenario.

agree with bear from landm #19856  8/6/2012 12:02:02 PM
I bet Auburn wouldnt take the trophy if you gave it to em now. They got beat fair and square and that had nothing to do with the weights or how they caught them.

Personally I think..... from ButchT  8/6/2012 8:11:21 PM
I'll simply bite my tongue on this one... :)
