SUBJECT: # 42948: Where to get GLoomis rods cheap?

Submitted by John (216.9.250.6) from ILLINOIS on 1/20/2008 1:16:00 PM

I want to buy a couple NEW Gloomis rods and I was wondering where a good place to get the cheap was.

Loomis and cheap don't go in the same sentence. You get what you pay for. You're quaestion is like asking where do I get a cheap Porsche. You may be able to find a used Loomis on e-bay. Most retailers can not discounrt Loomis rods.

Cheap may not be the best choice of words because of the price being relative to quality. But it would be interesting to know where people find the best prices on G-Loomis rods, excluding ebay.

Some retailers do discount g-loomis rods and it would be nice to know who does.

You can find some good deals on used G Loomis rods for sale on the Bass Boat Central web site.

Tom, you're right, occasionally you can get discounted Loomis rods. I recently bought a Loomis Moosyback BCR852 at a 25% discount from Hi's Tackle in California (no shipping). There one day, gone the next. This was the only bass rod that was discounted. However, I think that in general Loomis is a lot like many quality manufactures in that they set the retail price and only allow limited price reductions.

You can get, for example, $30 off an 844 IMX at one ebay store vs. what you would pay at American Legacy or Tackle Warehouse. That's the best consistent discount I've found. And most ebay stores get the stuff to you in about 4 days.

There is only one way to get a Loomis rod cheap. You must have a GOOD friend that is in the Loomis guide program. Their price is 50 percent off retail. Loomis rods are incredible. I have always been a good worm fisherman but this rod stepped up my game measurably. Good Luck! Sorry I cannot help directly.
