Someone is gonna come up with something for LOB casts with a longer handle for the A-rig.

Surf Rod from Cougarcat  3/2/2012 7:25:17 PM
I'm going to buy a swimbait rod but I think there are some light surf rods that would work and accomplish what you are talking about. Problem is to make sure it is under eight feet to meet the rules in some bass tournaments.

Roll your own and get what you want. That's my motto.

Yes Wacko slid in on my thread and got my rod.

   A-rig rods from mhr #11728 #11728  3/5/2012 10:55:51 AM
A-rig specific rods are needed and on the way, if you were at the show in High Point my rod was the one in the Swampland booth with the A-rig tied on and rigged to my triple hook keeper system. My rod is 8 foot long with a 13 inch handle and a big EVA belly buster grip on the end. Their A-rig specific blank is based on a Seeker saltwater blank, it is a combination of s-glass and carbon, which gives the blank tremendous durability you can cast as hard as you want and you won’t blow up this blank. There was a lot of talk at the show about A-rig rods, Bob and Todd from Mudhole said they weren’t paying attention to the rig until they noticed that warranty claims for Mag Bass blanks went from negligible to out of control in a month then they started paying a lot of attention to them. Steve Gardner had another good point about reliability and the A-rig, it is easy to make gentle lob casts when you are just fishing along, but when fish come up 150 feet from the side of the boat the first reaction is to get excited and really lay into a cast, that is when the blank explodes.
