    Curado 50E Noise

Rated:

I have several curado 50e's,all new. They are a little noisey on the retrieve with 1/4 and 3/8 oz crankbaits, but very noisey reeling a 1/2 oz spinnerbait. No noise when casting in the yard and reeling with no water resistance. Can anything be done to quieten these reels down? Thanks.

 Not using braid, using mono.

your rod guides with a Q-tip to see if you have any that are cracked and causing the line to scrape over it. But that you suddenly have several cracked guides is a stretch. Other than that, I'm at a loss as to why they all would be noisy. Have they been serviced or taken apart in any manner and maybe not re-assembled properly?

 Send them to Shimano.

It sounds like a gear problem but for the life of me I cannot imagine why all of them are doing it.

Is it a grinding sound or a rubbing sound? Can you feel it through the handle?

Seems to me I recall people noticing the Curado E series is noisier than the D's and older models? I have some Chronarch E's which are similar, and they are noisier than say my Zillions, but I don't have any older Shimano's to compare. Not to say they are loud or "grindy" or anything, you just notice a bit more retrieve noise than others.

Maybe Connie can chime in with some cleaning/lubing advice?

The New Chronarch E is the old Curado E.

No, they are not the quality of reel of their predecessors. A little noise with them isn't out of the question, a lot of noise would be a different story. However, if you have several and they are all the same, I wouldn't think trading for a different one would help.

I have noticed a little noise with mine. It's more pronounced with braid, but still there with floro or mono as well.
