    Curado 50E Noise

 I have several curado 50e's,all new. They are a little noisey on the retrieve with 1/4 and 3/8 oz crankbaits, but very noisey reeling a 1/2 oz spinnerbait. No noise when casting in the yard and reeling with no water resistance. Can anything be done to quieten these reels down? Thanks.

 your rod guides with a Q-tip to see if you have any that are cracked and causing the line to scrape over it. But that you suddenly have several cracked guides is a stretch. Other than that, I'm at a loss as to why they all would be noisy. Have they been serviced or taken apart in any manner and maybe not re-assembled properly?

It sounds like a gear problem but for the life of me I cannot imagine why all of them are doing it.


Is it a grinding sound or a rubbing sound? Can you feel it through the handle?

 Seems to me I recall people noticing the Curado E series is noisier than the D's and older models? I have some Chronarch E's which are similar, and they are noisier than say my Zillions, but I don't have any older Shimano's to compare. Not to say they are loud or "grindy" or anything, you just notice a bit more retrieve noise than others.


Maybe Connie can chime in with some cleaning/lubing advice?

 The New Chronarch E is the old Curado E.


No, they are not the quality of reel of their predecessors. A little noise with them isn't out of the question, a lot of noise would be a different story. However, if you have several and they are all the same, I wouldn't think trading for a different one would help.


I have noticed a little noise with mine. It's more pronounced with braid, but still there with floro or mono as well.
