SUBJECT: # 26508: Got a BPS XPS Performance IM8 rod in a Stradic/combo deal. Rod any good?

Yesterday I bought a Stradic 4000FG and a 6'6" MH XPS Performance IM8 rod at the local BPS for $85 (with a 15% off coupon). It's sorta like a good deal on the reel and a free rod. They don't carry the rod separately so it's hard for me to figure out how good the components are. Anyone know anything about these rods?

   I got an XPS baitcasting rod a year or so ago with a Curado. Same type of deal. Figure the rod cost 10.00 so it's a great rod at that price. Now, as for the quality of the rod,I only have a Bionic Blade and Lightning rod to compare it to. It is heavier and to me not as sensitive as the Blade but it is a decent rod for what I have invested in it.I don't have any praise for it but certainly won't condemn it. I can only guess that the spinning versions would be about the same.

   I believe the FG has been upgraded like the Castaic. So they are being cleared out. However at $85, how can you go wrong!
