SUBJECT: # 27244: Did you guys get any rods or reels for Christmas?

...I didn't but I got several gift certificates to Gander Mountain. So, I can pick out what I want.

   I don't know if it's any good or not. I've always used 5500's. This one is BassPro's EXT 1000LPHA Extreme. Do I keep or should I change it for another 5500?

   No, but I gave my wife a Kistler "Wacky Worm" spinning rod, along with a Daiwa EmblemZ 2500 reel, and my son a Kistler medium 6-6 casting rod, with a Daiwa TDX left handed reel (he's 11, so good time to start with the left-hand crank). Both outfits balance and feel great!

   .....but my wife gave me a sample pack of War Eagle spinnerbaits for Christmas 2000. A couple of weeks ago (Dec. 4), I tied on one called a Red Kicker for the fiirst time. First cast, reeled it 5 feet and hooked a 10-6, my all-time best. Two casts later, I caught a 6-8!

   Sure makes me wonder what I've been missing by letting that bait hang in my box for two years...........

   How do you think Santa got all those rods and reels for you guys! He came to my house, and I gave him some extras! Everyone who buys gifts for me, knows I "really" don't need any rods/reels! Everyone knows that, except me! HeHeHe

   My wife gave me some much needed Gore Tex bibs. Already had them out once. They are great. My mom gave me a gift certificate to a local bait shop. We gave my two year old a Sponge Bob spincast combo. I tried to talk my wife into letting me replace the bushings in the reel and adding another eye to the rod.....

   Santa did bring me a MK Maxxum Trolling motor and I sure would have liked to have been there and see him bring that box down the chimney. Now I 've got to find out where the real Santa (wifey) hid that box and how she got the kids to keep quite, I've got alot to learn. I hide them good too so good in fact while straightening out the boat I found one I didn't give her. I'm glad our anniversary is just a couple weeks away. BlazerSC
