SUBJECT: # 35156: Shimano Scorpion 1000 MG

Submitted by Sk202 (68.222.34.163) from ALABAMA on 12/23/04 8:19:00 AM

What would be a good rod to match up with a Scorpion 1000 MG? I will be using it to fish lite worms and wacky worms. Thanks & Merry Xmas.........

That is probably the most versatile rod made today, you will not be sorry you bought it.

A Kestler He66MC should be the thing. Works great for me for finesse worms with the same reel. If you like something a little longer, I think they make a 7' one in medium action. I had the same reel on a medium heavy action and didn't like it at all. Felt like a pool cue, with no more weight than you mention. The unweighted finesse worm wouldn't even "load" the tip or even, with an 1/8oz. weight added.

funny you guys mention those two rods. They are the exact two I have been considering...I think Wolverine is right that I would not be sorry if I got the APC and Smoking Joe makes good points relative to matching up the Scorpion with a medium action rod for WW. I am leaning toward the 7' medium due to balancing and casting issues, but I am confident that the APC rod will also find a home in my rod box as well. Thanks.......
