SUBJECT: # 39636: Shimano Curado SF disassembly

Submitted by J (68.100.254.222) from VIRGINIA on 3/26/2006 9:31:00 PM

I went to disassemble this reel for a little quick spring cleaning and no problem taking the side plate off. When I went to remove the spool it seemed like it was stuck from the side with the reel crank. I didn't want to force it and wanted to check here first to see if I am missing something obvious to get the spool out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would bet that one of the springs has gotten lodged in the pinion gear and the end of the spool has pulled it down in with it. I had that happen a few times with my reel and eventually just ruined the spring.

    What to do?

That's normal. The CU-200BSF has a clip under the cast cap to keep the spool from falling out when the brake side plate is open. Just press it out - you can remove the cast cap and pres on the end of the spool if you need to.
