SUBJECT: Sunday at Badin

Submitted by bigjohn (24.136.158.82) from NORTH CAROLINA on

Got 2 largemouth (3 lb twins) and a couple of channel cats before I found a nice school of "something". Something ended up being a 6 lb cat, 5 lb striper.... and a 10 lb + striper that came unbuttoned right at the boat.

All fish caught on live shad (thanks Darren!).

  2. bigjohn (24.136.158.82) from NORTH CAROLINA says white perch
The white perch have been thick in Garr Creek the last couple weeks. I've caught a bunch of them slow trolling for crappie. Troll crappie jigs as slow as you can, as close to the bottom as you can. Got a few nice ones around a lb or so last week.

Caught one striper on downlines about 20 feet down in 30 feet of water. Missed the big striper on a freelined shad. The cats all came on downlines.

    Fished skiiers cover area.

Nicely done. I haven't done very well trolling (I'm a complete newbie to it).

How deep were you trolling? Bucktails? I've done ok with trolling swimbaits on an umbrella rig if the fish are around 15 feet deep.
