SUBJECT: it's raining at Badin

Submitted by bigjohn (24.136.158.82) from NORTH CAROLINA on

Fished this morning (Sunday) from 6:30-9:30. Picked up 3 small stripers (less than 2 pounds) on umbrella rigs with swim baits. Nothing on the downrigger bucktails.

Couldn't find any live bait in the back of Garr Creek but didn't look very long since I knew I wouldn't have long to fish before the weather blew me out. I'm having a tough time finding bait-- here today, gone tomorrow. Guess I should have gone up to the dam.

I know bait has been a pain on Badin lately. It's been hit or miss w/good bait at the dam too. No shortage of waccamaw's up there though. If your out before sunrise your spotlight will help you find the bait in the shallow's. Last night I went to High Rock flathead fishing and bait was a piece of cake. The bridge at Tamarac and at Abbott's creek has plenty. 2 throws and I had about 13 dozen, mix of threads and gizzards. Just a though if your anywhere near the Rock. We only got a few flatties, but they were nice, 16 and 24 lbs., broke off on a another in the 20 lb. class. Good Luck, Jim

big john where did you pick up those 2 at? i went saturday and trolled ole whitney and it was loaded with fish on both sides the tracks were the better side but come near sunset they disappeared dont understand that there was a few but nothing like it was but never did hit anything we trolled bucktails and some divers they caught several at the golf course on live bait. does anyone know when the spawn will be over? we will try to be back in a couple of weeks

  3. easygoing (64.136.27.225) from NORTH CAROLINA says bait
Shad are at the banks at high rock

  4. bigjohn (24.136.158.82) from NORTH CAROLINA says scattered
I picked those up between the rock wall and Garr Creek about 50 yards off the bank. Marked a ton of fish but just couldn't get anything decent to hit.

  5. Flatbottom (66.110.225.133) from NORTH CAROLINA says Depth
Big John how deep are you fishing? I think I am fishing to deep.

    Thanks

  6. bigjohn (24.136.158.82) from NORTH CAROLINA says not too deep
Caught my fish at 15 feet deep or so --again, nothing to brag about though. May try in the morning if I can get up. LONG week and REALLY long day today.
