SUBJECT: Oregon Inlet dates

Submitted by Mdk (152.163.100.67) from GEORGIA on

A group of us (4 to 6 people) from No Ga are planning a trip to Ore Inlet area for a couple of days striper fishing, not sure of best times to go (Jan/Feb?) and would like some details on best time to go and who to charter; availability, details, etc. Any info is greatly appreciated. Also would like website/ phone #s to make arrangements. Thanks, Martin

  1. garrel (65.210.160.2) from NORTH CAROLINA says charters for Oregon Inlet
http://reelbuzz.com/ Try this link for some of the charters available, also see Tom Bare's comments in earlier post. Hope you can find something. Keep in mind that many of the December & January dates have been booked for many months.

  2. garrel (65.210.160.2) from NORTH CAROLINA says marinas
*also: you can contact Oregon Inlet and Pirates Cove Marinas, to see if they have anything.

  3. Steve(Welby) Welborn (152.163.101.10) from NORTH CAROLINA says Oregon Inlet
WE booked The Finn Galley for Dec.27&28. You will not find a guy that any works harder to put you on fish!!!! The captains name is Krage Garner. He fishes out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Check him out on his web site www.FinnGalley.com. Hope this helps.

    Tight Lines, steve (Welby)

  4. Gerry, SFHP from VIRGINIA says Devin Cage and Rick Caton are two of the best
Devin Cage and Rick Caton are two of the best

  5. Grady (24.88.243.161) from NORTH CAROLINA says Free Agent
I agree with Gerry, Rick Caton on the Free Agent will put you on the fish and have a ball doing it. Check him out at Custom Sound Charters, he's probably booked up but may have a last minute cancellation. Call him at 252-473-1209 home or 252-473-8432 on the boat.

  6. SurFishaLot (207.69.1.207) from NORTH CAROLINA says Beach Bum
    Try Reese Stetcher... www.beachbumfishing.com

He can't take 6 people at one time, but he can get you a second boat/captain. He is about as good as it gets when it comes to fishing the shoals. He doesn't have the best boat for fishing outside, but he usually doesn't need to. His inside tactics are a lot more fun than dragging a huge jig through 30+ feet of water on the outside.

Having a 20+ pound striper chase a big artificial across the surface on the shoals before mashing it is a blast. Landing this striper with his Shimano-4000 spinning reel on a 6-foot Med Action spinning rod will be a good test of your skills. Compared to most of the tackle that you see out there, you would say that he is crazy. But.. His stuff is in good shape and it is up to the task.
