SUBJECT: # 13405: Rangertrail cool hubs

Submitted by Rangerfan (173.80.235.137) from WEST VIRGINIA on 11/15/2009 7:43:00 PM

Can anyone shine some light on the details about changing a seal on a Rangertrail trailer. I have read a bunch of post but nothing about removal of the hubs and seal.It is a 2003 and is full of oil. Thanks

Rangerfan: If you've ever replaced a seal on a greased hub, the process is exactly the same, except the castle nut needs to be just a tad tighter with no play in the hub, so you won't leak oil out of the rear seal. The rest of the info you need should be in the old posts that you can find doing a search on this page using COOL Hubs as the key words. If you have any additional questions, you can always call Ranger and ask for the trailer department. Everyone there will be glad to help.

Wouldn't Ranger provide some type of maintenance manual with the trailer?

They should. But, I think they assume that either you know enough to do it yourself or you'll take it to the dealer. I suspect that they want their dealers to get the business, so they don't put a "do it yourself" section in the trailer pamphlet.

Maybe you should write one; you know more about them than anyone else on here and you express yourself well.
