Submitted by Begafish from NORTH CAROLINA on 4/20/2011 10:26:00 PM

Does anybody have a Colorado 4DR, 4x4, loaded with a 5.3 V-8? was wondering if it will pull a 20 ft Triton with tandom wheels, fairly well? Seems to me it should pull good....any help? James Clark

The fact that it is a V8 should be good enough.

I have a colorado with the inline 5 cylinder engine and pull a Kenner 2103 center console with tandem axle trailer. Total package weight is about 4000 pounds. I have used it on trips up to 50 miles and it is very impressive on torque. Starts off and pulls very well up to about 60 mph. Kinda struggles after that.

The main reason I have this truck is that it is supplied by the company I work for and its free.

If it were a personal vehicle I don't think I would buy a Colorado, I would go up to the full size truck. There is very little price difference and virtually no mileage difference.

one of the most important aspects of pulling is the stopping. When something weighing 4000 pounds is pulling something weighting 4000 pounds stopping in a hurry will be difficult.

My trailer has hydraulic surge disc brakes. Stops very well. I would not consider a boat trailer without the surge brakes.
