SUBJECT: # 13067: Gasoholic

Submitted by Cougarcat from ALABAMA on 5/6/2008 10:50:00 PM

I'm a gasoholic and I'll keep burning it. I have cut back and actually only live about six miles from where I work so I've never been a big contributor in that daily commute.

But, when I'm stressed, getting out the Mustang, putting the top down, and going for a drive calms me down. Also, putting the hammer down on my Cat with Yamaha 225 focuses my mind on going down the lake at speed and I guarantee the other things on my mind aren't top priority.

So, I'll find ways to cut back on fuel but sometimes the need for speed or the wind in my hair consumes me. I'll count my pennies but it is still probably cheaper than psychoanalysis.

Borrowing from Robert Duvall (kinda),"There is nothing like the smell of two-cycle in the morning."

This rant actually came from checking CNN to see if Billary or Osomthin was winning in North Carolina and Indiana. Oh yes, they were winning or losing.

But CNN was showing a Senate hearing on getting the price of diesel down. They had some economist on oil working for I forget and he actually said,"To get diesel prices down we need to increase the supply or decrease demand." Wow! this talking head actually made it to Macroeconomics 101 the first class period.

I told my Son I think it would be better to incentivise the oil companies to build refineries. He smiled and said,"You mean increase supply?" Uh, well yeah. I guess I wouldn't be a very good talking head either.

I am waiting and hope they come out with the new smaller diesel engines for 1/2 tons and SUVs. I might buy one and increase my mileage but also my cost per gallon of fuel. Hmmm will that actually help anything.

that need for speed! Nothing like running down the Chowan River at 90+ drinking and sweet tea.
