SUBJECT: # 5100: Trailer hitch mounting for Honda CRV

Submitted by jgonefishin (12.0.36.202) from MASSACHUSETTS on 2/19/2001 4:27:00 PM

I'm looking for a little help here. I just bought the wife a new CRV, I was able to get the hitch for free, without installation. Now I've done some hitches before and I think I could figure out how this thing goes but I would like to save some time. So if anyone has done one and could give a few pointers or direct me towards some installation info it would be appreciated. Thanks

24' bayliner, Not quite, my wife likes to pick up garden supplies and what not. She has one of those little 4' X 8' utility jobs. The kids take the quad up north. I'm well within the 1000# rating.

It`s a great vehicle, and capable of towing lots of good boats. Not everybody has a 20 foot bass boat with a 200 on it. It will tow my 15 Whaler with 50 outboard on it all day long.

the easiest thing i am guessing is to let uhaul or ryder put it on and its usually pretty cheap. on my old jeep gc i had to take off the gas tank protecter and then atach it back after the hitch was in place. the bolts on the vehicle had to be changed as well. this is pretty common among suv's. i did it by my self after asking the jeep dealership for advice. they gave me the new longer bolts. but it ended up taking me about 3 hours by my self and i said i would never do it again. hitches get heavy when you try it by yourself.
