2008 Bass Cat Boats Owners Invitational Day 1

PRESS RELEASE ... FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!

March 27, 2008

Bass Cat Boat Owners from across the country have converged on Mountain Home, Arkansas this week to attend the 2008 Bass Cat Owners Invitational. This two day tournament is open to all owners of Bass Cat Boats from our 1971 models to the newest 2008 models. The Pierce Family has provided family oriented fun, great prizes, and a challenging fishing tournament which has been a tradition since 1987.

The Pierce family and Bass Cat employees welcome their customers with southern hospitality and some challenging fishing on a very unusual high lake level due to recent flooding. A level of 571.54 compared to a 553’ normal pool on Lake Norfork, should help level the playing field for this tournament. A total of 566 Owners accepted the Invitation and launched this morning starting a typical Invitational day ... overcast, with a projected 71 degree high. A little high water sure can’t dampen the hopes of the Winners taking home the grand prize, a 2008 Bass Cat Puma rigged with a new Mercury 225 OptiMax. Second Place winners are vying for a new Pantera II ... not bad for 2nd place. Great prizes including a New Mercury Outboard and a vast assortment of Strike King products ... as well as those from many other sponsors are at stake during this two day tournament.

Our first day leaders, Max Atkinson and Shawn White of Midway, AR weighed in 4 Bass weighing 15.26 pounds and were very tight lipped on stage as the looked out at the two Bass Cat’s sparkling in the distance ... first and second place prizes. Second place team of Randell James of Springdale, AR and his partner Glenn Rhodes followed closely with 13.64 ... keeping pressure on the top team for Fridays final weigh-in.

Big Bass today was a very healthy 6.49# lunker which was brought to the scales by Michael Crane and Sean Nicodemus of Riverton, KS.

Weather forecasters are predicting a different day for day two with much cooler temps and possible thunderstorms early, placing a jinx on our first day leaders alive. First day leaders have yet to win the tournament.

The results of today's weigh-in are available at http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/news/attachments/2008_bass_cat_owners_invitational_day_1.pdf.
