Another big field set for WON BASS tournament in Northern California

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Another big field set for WON BASS
tournament in Northern California

OROVILLE ‹ The second tournament of the North Region on the WON BASS Miller
High Life will be staged this weekend, March 15-16, on Lake Oroville, one of
the north's best fisheries.
Anglers are expecting to have very good fishing for spotted and largemouth
bass despite forecasts of rainy weather for the weekend.
"Rain might even help the fishing," said Gary Dobyns of Yuba City, the
all-time leader in tournament wins on the WON BASS trail and certainly a
pre-tourney favorite to win on his "home" lake.
A field of 164 Pros and 164 amateur (AAA) anglers will take to the waters on
Saturday and Sunday at daylight, with daily weigh-ins starting at 2:30 p.m.
at the Spillway launch ramp near the dam. At the season's first tournament,
193 boats (386 anglers) turned for the Lake Shasta Invitational in February,
which was won by Rock Douglass of Willows. The field of anglers weighed in
nearly 1,900 bass during the two-day contest.
The Lake Oroville tournament will pay out more than $100,000 in cash and
prizes, including a first place prize for the Pros of a $36,000 rig ‹ a
Ranger 518VX boat and trailer, Mercury 175 outboard, MotorGuide trolling
motor, Lowrance electronics and Trojan batteries. Cash awards will go the
second through 33rd place Pros and to the top 33 AAA anglers ‹ plus there is
$1,500 each day for the largest bass and $500 for the second largest bass.
The Pro entry fee is $350 and the AAA entry fee is $175. The tournament
entry includes participation in the Daily Double Big Bass prize pools.
The tournament headquarters will be at the Best Value Inn for Thursday
registration, 580 Oro Dam Blvd., Oroville, CA 95965; (530) 533-7070.
The final check-in for anglers is on Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Gold
Country Casino, 4020 Olive Highway in Oroville. The partner pairings for the
weekend will be drawn at 6 p.m.
For more information on tournaments throughout the west, contact WON BASS at
