We are pleased to be holding the second annual Rally@Potomac at Leesylvania State Park in Dumfries, Virginia, near Woodbridge. We have a designated ramp and parking area reserved (same as last year). This year’s Rally will be held June 14 – June 16, 2002. We hope that people from all around the country will come to see the beauty of the Potomac River and experience for themselves the great fishing that this tidal water can provide. We also hope that some of you can take advantage of the proximity to the Nation’s Capitol and perhaps get a chance to visit the city.
This is a fun only fishing event. It is not connected with any club or federation. There are no cash prizes, no points awarded, etc. Token trophies or plaques will be given out to the top finishers, but the greatest prizes at rallies are new friends and, of course, the totally outrageous bragging rights. Folks who have never met face-to-face come from all over to experience fun, low-key fishing, and many end up making lifetime contacts. The opportunity to sit around, tell stories and share information make a Rally a great place to be. No matter what level of angler you are, you can participate and have a blast while meeting new people and perhaps even learning from each other. Rallies are like no other fishing events and are definitely addictive!
Rally hats and ID buttons are guaranteed for all fishing participants who register by the May 31, 2002, deadline. Meals will be provided from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch. There will also freebies from our generous sponsors and some special items that will be raffled off as “door prizes”.
Our guide sponsors have donated half-day trips on the Potomac River. These trips will be drawn at random from participants who have registered by May 15, 2002, so that there will be time for the winners to make arrangements to take advantage or their prizes. Only participants who have registered by this deadline will be eligible for these drawings. The lucky winners will be announced on line and notified by e-mail. If any winner has no e-mail or online access, a notification letter will be sent by regular mail.

The hotel is located at the Quantico exit of I-95, just south of the park. We have a block of rooms reserved for us Friday and Saturday night. Room costs are $48 per night for single or double with a 9.5% room tax. The deadline for this rate is May 17, at which time the block of reserved rooms reverts to the general public. The hotel has ample parking for rigs, without having to separate the boat and vehicle. Outside electricity is available for charging batteries.
Please notify the desk clerks that you are with the Rally@Potomac when making reservations to receive the group discount.
We will also be having a banquet in the hotel restaurant on Saturday night with presentations, raffle of door prizes and entertainment.
Information for those who would like to stay at another hotel can be provided upon request.
There is also camping available nearby.
Prince William Travel Trailer Village – Triangle (near Dumfries), VA (in Prince William Forest Park) - This is a federal park but this trailer campground is run by a private concession. It is about two miles down the road from the hotel. The access to tent camping is the next exit down 95 at the south end of the park.

Camping information is also posted on the message board. Please search for “camping” on the Rally@Potomac Message Board for any updated information.
Leesylvania State Park is off Route 1, just few miles off Interstate 95, and is roughly half-way between Washington, D.C. and Fredericksburg, VA.
There is a small fee to enter Leesylvania State Park on a daily basis ($2-3.00). Ramp fees are $6 Monday through Friday and $8 on weekends. Those who live nearby may want to consider purchasing annual passes for park entry and boat launching.
Swimming is not permitted from the park shores and alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park. Pets are permitted on a leash. Park hours are dawn to dusk, but we have arranged to have the park open early and close late for us. There will not be a 2-mile backup at 6 am waiting for the park to open this time!
Leesylvania State Park is in the southeast area of Prince William County, approximately 25 miles from Washington, D.C. and Fredericksburg. From I-95, take Rippon Landing Exit 156; then go east on Route 784 to U.S. 1. From U.S. 1, Route 610 (Neabsco Road) east two miles.

Detailed direction to the park and accommodations will be posted separately.
Initial registration will be held at Leesylvania State Park on Friday from 2-7:00 p.m, but Charlie will be there most of the day. There will be a small tent set up behind the Breakers store and snack shop near the north ramp and parking lot (Lee’s Landing Picnic Area).
Rally T-shirts, fishing licenses and Potomac River maps will be available for purchase at this time.
An outdoor cookout near the parking lot will follow registration. Various guest speakers will present information on fishing Potomac’s tidal waters. (We will have lights this year! LOL!)
Please see Rules and Regulations and Rally Schedule posts for more information.
We plan to help arrange transportation for those without it to various places of interest. These plans will vary depending upon how many non-fishing participants will attend and what the majority prefers to do. Please see the separate posting for further information.
