What color pointer were u slinging? Nice day on the BigG for u guys!
color From: Scott (66.0.54.186), Alabama
We both started out throwing the Pearl Ayu. I think that is the correct color. I no longer have the package. Had to get rid of it so my wife wouldn't see what I paid for the crazy thing. In laymen terms it is pearl sides and chartruse back. My partner broke his off on a fish and after wiping away the tears he tied on a gold with black back and caught our last two fish.

Great job and congradulations on winning the tournament. Got to find out what kind of bait the pointer is though. I have never heard of it.
Big Spot! From: jeff (65.144.96.136), Tennessee
You guys probably won't beleive me, but a buddy of mine caught a Smallmouth over 5 lbs in that same area a couple of years ago in a tournament. If I hadn't of seen it I wouldn't beleive it myself. He was throwing jerkbait also.
Why not? From: Cyclone Fan (65.82.75.194), Alabama
I have never caught one there myself, but I have seen a few Smallmouth that were caught out of Guntersville. Some very respectable ones at that. If you check out some of the fishing club's web sights from that area you can see some that were caught in tournaments. They are there, just not in the numbers that they are in Wheeler, or especially Pickwick and Wilson.

Good Fishing!

Smallmouth From: Basstracker (68.152.14.10), Alabama
Three years ago I caught two smallmouth that were about a pound a piece down close to the damn. Caught them about fifteen minutes apart. I never caught one before or after that day.
Small Mouth From: Scott (66.0.54.186), Alabama
I did not want to stir up the nonbelievers but the week before my partner fished one of the holes we caught fish in Sunday and caught a 4lb. small mouth on the pointer. The same hole the spot came from.
Gfish From: Scott (66.0.54.186), Alabama
The pointer is a jerkbait made by Lucky Craft. The model we used is 4" long and will run 4 to 5 ft. and will suspend.
G'ville smallies From: Wtl (130.160.152.236), Alabama
I've heard that not only are there smallmouths at G'ville, but that their numbers are increasing due to better water quality. Supposedly the tennessee also has walleye and a lot of other species that are rarely caught but do exist.

On a similar note, I didn't realize the elk had smallmouth in its lower streches. That is until I caught a 3 lber over the weekend in anderson creek.

Big smallmouth From: ty187 (68.159.141.47), Alabama
I, too, have seen, but not caught a big smallie in that area. She blew up on a Zara Spook and followed the thing to the boat. I have caught some smallies up to 5.5 lb and she was every bit of that. I took my daughter bream fishing the next week and she caught one that weighed 1.25 on a cricket of all things. She had a fight on an UL rig.
elk river From: midnight (216.109.17.62), Alabama
the elk has had alot of smallies caught out of her. Alot of help comes from upstream at Tims Ford. Caught my 1st smallie over 4 lb in the elk some 15 yrs ago
Lucky Craft Pointer 100 From: spnrbait (129.66.31.10), Alabama
Went by Woods and Water in Tuscaloosa and the Pointers cost about $15 bucks... Hope someone doesn't loose on of these..
Smallmouth From: Jeffrobass (64.12.116.83), Alabama
My buddy caught a 6lb smallmouth by the dam a few days ago throwing a sassy shad catching stripers.HAWG!The guy he took it to to mount it said that it was one of the biggest he had every seen from this area.Had to get this hawg mounted.Only keep the trophies.I have ONLY KEEP 3 FISH OUT OF GUNTERSVILLE OUT OF THE HUNDREDS THAT I HAVE CAUGHT. There is nothing wrong with mounting a fish of a lifetime. LET 'EM LIVE!
