Tips From: William (206.213.251.31), Texas
IF YOUR GOING TO BE FISHING IN A POND MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO GO BUY SOME GOOD SMALL/MEDIUM SPINNER BAITS, IN WHITE OR CHARTREUSE. YOU CAN GET THE H&H SPINNERS AT ANY PLACE THAT SELLS TACKLE AND THEY ARE REALLY CHEAP(ABOUT .99cents WHERE I'M AT). I DONT KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT PIKE BEING FROM TEXAS BUT FOR BASS IN A POND I WOULD ALSO HAVE A COUPLE OF SMALL 1/4oz. SKIRTED JIGS(natural color for clear water and white or pumpkin for stained) for pitching to any shoreline cover you can find. Look for structure like overhanging trees or brushpiles in the pond that are close to the bank and throw that spinnerbait all over each piece of cover. if you get a bite dont leave that spot until you have gone back threw and worked it good with your jig. try different retrive speeds and depths and let the fish tell you what you should be doing. make a mental note of each fish you catch( where u caught him, what depth you caught him, how fast your lure retrive was) and try to duplicate that exact tactic all over the pond. Try to fish away from everybodyt else, get yourself some POLARIZED sun glasses and walk the bank and look for structure like brushpiles out in a little deeper water where its' not too visible by everyone else, thats were your big ones are going to come from. e-mail me back @ billsw@aetna.com if youd like some more tips. If i could get a better idea of where your fishing and the weather conditions I can help you out a lot more. I do 99% of my fishing at small ponds and have got some deadly tactics I can give you with a little more info. Good luck and tight lines ! ! ! :)

sorry i need to be more specific it is called great pond but it is actually the size of lake fork or lake baccarac in your area down there i am really not sure why they call it a pond i think that that is great advice for fishing ponds like you said that is what i do everytime medium spinners will trailers on them
strong gear From: basspro8 (24.61.25.236), Massachusetts
great pond is huge, it is loaded with hard fighting smallmouthbass largmouthbass and the occasional Pike. If you are not a avvid angler I would get medium-heavy spinning gear ( openface real and 6 ft 6 inch rod med-heavy ) with line to match, 12 to 14 lb monofilament. A few white spinnerbaits, some soft plastics ( sencos, 7 inch powerbait worms with # 4 hooks and 1/8 to 1/4 oz bullet weights), and some surface plugs, ( jitterbugs and poppers )
Great Pond From: Keith (66.181.114.186), Maine
I would try sight-fishing with watermelon tubes, and in the morning and evening throw a top-water popper or zera-spook. You're going in june so most of the fish will be shallow unless it's an off year weather wise, which has happened the past few years. If your throwing tubes go with lighter line(8lb test low-vis green mono.) and a spinning rod with medium action. With the top-water I like clear line around 10-12lb test mono. This is a good set-up for smallmouth that time of year and a good spot is straight across from the green and red channel markers(about 2 miles from the launch at most). So just keep going straight once you have come out of the channel and once you get to the shore you'll see a line of bouys that line the shore for hazards. fish around those and you can't go wrong. If you like pike, fish the north and south bogs with alwife or perch colored spinnerbait. They go for white colored flukes as well. This is a great fishery, but that time of year there is special regulations and care needed when handling and releasing fish. Feel free to ask anymore specifics, and remember to catch-and-release because I have them named(jk). -blue ranger
